It took me 40 years but I finally made it to a Disney location. We had a day-and-a-half to explore the one-and-a-half Disney parks before our flight back to Porto. We didn’t cheap out and booked a night at a Disney hotel to make things easy. The weather forecast was Utopian and the family was ready to go at the crack of dawn.
What on earth were we thinking? I thought we had adopted slow tourism and recognized its rewards. Perhaps this “travel” day would have been easier if Paige hadn’t blown out her ankle. Maybe if we weren’t leaving after the biggest party of the year in Porto, we might have actually been able to catch an Uber (the wait to get inebriated youth home took priority). In retrospect, we probably didn’t need to cram a whirlwind 5 hours of Paris sightseeing into the day (Our tickets for Disneyland didn’t start until the next day). It was a long day that really drained us. But instead of complaining about transfers, train tickets and Uber headaches, I’ll just share some funny pictures from our time instead.
